SPECIAL ALERT – ELMHURST TOWN HALL GREAT SUCCESS
Many thanks to the more than 500 citizens who packed the Diplomat West Banquet Hall on Thursday night to attend the ISRA’s town hall meeting on the subject of concealed carry. Those in attendance heard first hand about the state of concealed carry from ISRA Executive Director, Richard Pearson and NRA lobbyist Todd Vandermyde. A busy Q&A session followed remarks delivered by Pearson and Vandermyde.
The essence of the town hall meeting was that Illinois has a long way to go before the first carry permit is issued. Topics covered included where and when licensed citizens may carry; implications of transportation pre-emption; training requirements and; the permit application process. Also discussed were the political and cultural obstacles that cause Illinois to remain as the only state in the nation that does not allow its citizens to carry defensive firearms.
The ISRA is planning concealed carry town hall meetings to be held in various locations around the state. If you did not make last night’s meeting, please watch for alerts in your email.
